Subject: What is the different between a diplomas and a certificate in US?
Question: Hello, I just received a letter from my college saying that be ready to take photos after receiving diplomas upon graduation. I am confused. I suppose to get a degree but not a diploma? Should it be upon receiving the degree certificate.

Diploma means the physical piece of paper you are doing to receive; the degree is the program. After you've studied the bachelor's or master's degree courses, you'll receive a "piece of diploma" to show that you have done your degree course.

A diploma is a degree. A degree is usually a longer course of study than a certificate, and involves more classes and homework.
